Nutrition

The College of Nutrition was established in 1967 with a co-educational 4-year program. It is as yet one of two faculties of its kind all over Japan.

The primary objective of its program is to prepare students for candidacy as 'National Registered Dietitians', duly licensed, subsequently, through the State examination. Students can acquire that candidacy by completing the required subjects offered by the program. Nowadays 'National Registered Dietitians' are in great demand. Such dietitians can obtain further qualifications as 'Care Managers', 'Instructors for the Food Industry', 'Instructors for Health-Promoting Exercise' etc..

Its supplementary objective is to help students to become 'Food Specialists', 'Health Laboratory Technicians', as well as 'Dietitians'. Those certificated specialists may pursue successful vocational careers in hospitals, nursing homes, community and government food and hygiene agencies, food industries, meal-supplying corporations and other relevant institutions. In such institutions those specialists are qualified to take the posts of 'Food Sanitary Inspector' and 'Food Sanitation Supervisor'.

However, no less important an objective of its program is to foster at the same time those students who have broad interests in promoting our health in the present, deteriorating environment, social and human. For this objective, students are allowed to take courses offered by the other colleges such as 'Marketing', 'Consumer Behavior', 'Psychiatry', 'Clinical Psychology' and so on.

The College is directly linked with the Graduate School of Nutrition, established in 1992, which offers advanced Master's Programs in Nutrition Science Course at Food Science and Nutrition Science Major. The Programs are also open to students who are graduates and who have vocational experience.
