Admission of International Students(for Humanities)

The College of Humanities admits up to ten international undergraduate students. This number includes returnees from overseas schools and from vocational experiences.

Successful applicants are required, firstly, to be at least eighteen years old, and to have finished their high school courses; secondly, they should hold Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or its equivalents; thirdly, they should obtain a visa as a "College Student", or a visa as a temporary visitor taking examinations. Successful applicants are also required to pass a special entrance examination, consisting of a test for Japanese language proficiency, and to take part in a departmental interview. The examination is held on the University campus, twice every year - in September and March. For the examination in September, an application must be submitted in late August to early September. For the examination in March, application must be submitted in about the middle of February.

All international students, except exchange students, must pay the same tuition fees and others as those for Japanese students:

Screening fee: ¥35,000
Tuition per year: ¥1,000,000
First-year admission fee: ¥350,000
Other Fees: ¥62,300

However, international students paying their own expenses are exempted from the "first-year admission fee".

International students can apply for a Koshien Foundation scholarship of ¥48,000 per month. Those students can also apply to the same Foundation for the tuition to be reduced by 50%. Whether those applications be approved or not depends on the level of studies and other conditions mainly financial. The scholarship and allowance are for one year, extendable on application. International students can also apply for a number of other scholarships. The Japanese government, AIEJ (Association of International Education Japan), Hyogo Prefecture, and about 10 corporate sponsors can grant scholarships.
